Wimbledon battling relegation tonight

Wimbledon could be relegated to the Nationwide League Second Division tonight if they lose against promotion-chasing Sunderland at Milton Keynes.

The Dons have been shorn of their most promising players as administrators attempt to balance the books, and manager Stuart Murdoch has admitted that he is now planning for next season.

Relegation would represent the latest chapter of the club’s colourful 115-year history which has seen a fairytale rise from the playing fields of Merton to the top flight and FA Cup glory at Wembley, but one which now represents a new struggle against homelessness and financial strife.
