Athlone to appeal points deduction and fine

Athlone Town are to appeal a decision by the eircom League to deduct the club three points and fine them €2,500 for playing an unregistered player.

The League's Board of Control meeting decided on Athlone's punishment last night for playing an unregistered player, Michael McCann, in their eircom League First Division match versus Monaghan United on Friday, March 19.
