Irish international skipper Graham Kavanagh has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The influential Cardiff midfielder has missed the Bluebirds’ last two games with an ankle injury and will undergo an operation on the problem tomorrow.

Following City’s 2-1 triumph against Division One leaders Norwich, Kavanagh said: “It was a great win for the lads, but on a personal note I am devastated,” said Kavanagh.

“It’s a recurrence of the trouble I have had for the past few weeks and I went to see a specialist in Bristol for a second opinion.

“I was told there’s no other solution than surgery and I’m gutted to think my season is ending so early.”
