Wise decision to give Millwall manager's award

Dennis Wise has landed the Nationwide Division One manager of the month award for his rejuvenation of Millwall.

The 37-year-old former England midfielder led the Lions to three wins and a draw from their four Division One games last month.

In addition, they won two FA Cup ties to set up a quarter-final clash against Tranmere this weekend and stretch their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions.

Wise, whose team are fifth in the table, said: “Although we’re in the cup quarter-finals our priority is the Nationwide League and the play-offs – and we can’t forget that.

“The lads have become a very close-knit group who get on very well and want to accomplish things together.”

Luton boss Mike Newell gets the Division Two award while Colin Calderwood (Northampton) and Mark Wright (Chester) won the Division Three and Conference awards.
