King Henrik set for day in the sun

Celtic star Henrik Larsson is set for a move to southern Europe when he leaves Parkhead in the summer.

The former Sweden international had been linked with Newcastle and Arsenal in the Premiership.

But his agent, Rob Jansen, maintains his client is looking to warmer climes for his next move.

Jansen said: “I met with Henrik at the weekend and he is now clearer in his plans.

“The only thing I can say right now is that it is 100% certain that Henrik will continue his career in football and he will be leaving Celtic in the summer.

“He will probably move to a club in southern Europe although I have to stress that I have not yet spoken to anyone about a deal.”

Meanwhile, Celtic forward Shaun Maloney is set to agree a new contract with the Hoops after “constructive” talks between the club and player’s representative, Mel Stein.

The Scotland Under-21 international has 18 months left on his current deal but manager Martin O’Neill is determined to sort out the player’s future swiftly.

Stein told the Scottish Daily Express: “We had a very constructive meeting and I think we have made a lot of progress.

“I am confident that everything will be sorted out and Shaun’s new contract will be agreed and signed within the next couple of weeks.”
