Saints net Brentford goalkeeper

Southampton have today completed the £500,000 (€726,000) signing of Brentford goalkeeper Paul Smith despite an 11th hour delay caused by a power cut.

The Saints were ready to register the player yesterday after the 24-year-old passed a medical and agreed terms with the Hampshire side.
