Fulham 'can handle life without Louis'

Saha completed his £12.8m (€18.6m) move to Manchester United yesterday, depriving Fulham of their star striker whose goals have swept the club into European reckoning.

A glance at the Cottagers’ squad reveals Barry Hayles, Facundo Sava and Brian McBride are the names ready to step into the Frenchman’s shoes but it is a hard act to follow.

McBride is unavailable for tomorrow’s FA Cup tie at Everton and Sava is out of form with just a solitary goal to show from seven appearances this season, leaving Hayles as the likely starter at Goodison.

Boa Morte and Steed Malbranque will provide the Jamaican international with support up front but without Saha, Fulham look toothless in attack and the cutting edge he provides will be sorely missed.

But Portuguese star Boa Morte has promised that the Cottagers will continue to find the back of the net and insists there is no extra pressure on his shoulders now Saha has gone.

“The fact that Louis Saha has gone does not mean we can’t score goals. He’s been massive for us this season but we have to move on. We have to be confident without him and look ahead,” he said.
