Pompey turn to Cort

Portsmouth want to sign Newcastle striker Carl Cort on loan until the end of the season, according to the Daily Mirror.

The paper claims Pompey boss Harry Redknapp has turned to the 26-year-old after failing to land Milan Baros, Francis Jeffers and Dado Prso.

Redknapp is quoted as saying: "We're desperately trying to find a striker."

Cort cost Newcastle £7m (€10m) but he has failed to make much of a mark at St James' Park.
