Ferguson: United had 'someone in mind'

Alex Ferguson has re-stated his belief that Manchester United were preparing to appoint his successor before his famous retirement U-turn two years ago.

Last year, United were forced to deny Ferguson's suggestion they were on the brink of handing England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson the job.
