Wolves want delayed-action Camara

Wolves have asked Senegal if they can delay Henri Camara’s departure for the African Nations Cup so he can play against Manchester United and Liverpool next week.

The Barclaycard Premiership’s bottom club are seven points from safety following yesterday’s 2-0 defeat at Charlton and face United at Molineux next Saturday with Liverpool due in the Black Country four days later on January 21 in a rearranged game.

Wanderers boss Dave Jones is also keen to have Camara, who was recently voted Senegal’s player of the year, available this coming Tuesday when Kidderminster visit Molineux in an FA Cup third round replay.

“The boy wants to stay for a couple more games and wants to play,” said Jones. “I don’t see why he should have to go now anyway.

“The tournament doesn’t start until the end of this month so there is no reason for players to be going this early.

“Camara wants to play against Kiddy in the FA Cup and then in our league games, but if we are told he has to go then we have no option but to send him. It’s a crazy situation.”
