Gordon Strachan is considering all options as he looks to bring to an end three straight defeats when his team take on Leicester at St Mary’s tomorrow.

After a promising start to the season, Southampton’s form has dipped in recent weeks – and they have not scored a goal in 270 minutes of football since beating Portsmouth 3-0 before Christmas.

Newcastle romped to a 3-0 victory in Sunday’s FA Cup tie at St Mary’s, and Strachan said: “I have got to be looking at my forwards, midfield and defence an trying to work out where we go from there. It is not proving easy.”

Defender Matt Oakley remains a long-term absentee, while Graeme Le Saux (foot) is also out despite recovering from a hamstring problem.

Provisional squad: Niemi, Dodd, Lundekvam, M Svensson, Higginbotham, Telfer, Prutton, Delap, Pahars, Beattie, Phillips, Jones, A Svensson, Fernandes, McCann, Delgado, Ormerod, Marsden.
