Moreno in talks with Bolton
Atletico Madrid striker Javi Moreno is desperate to join Bolton’s international brigade so he can kick-start his career.
The player’s representative Pedro Bravo admits Moreno wants to leave Atletico to play regular first-team football.
The 29-year-old is expected to strike a deal with Bolton this weekend which will see him stay until the end of the season.
“The player, Antonio Alfaro (his agent) and I will fly to Manchester and today or tomorrow he will speak with Bolton,” Bravo told PA International at Madrid airport.
“If everyone is in agreement, he will sign until the end of June. The main thing for Javi is that he wants to play football and this has been the problem.”
Moreno was a prolific scorer for Alaves when the club reached the final of UEFA Cup in 2001 but his career has stalled ever since his move to AC Milan the following season.
“When he played for Alaves he was one of the most important players there and reached the UEFA Cup final,” Bravo said.
“Then he moved to (AC) Milan where he only played about 11 games and scored something like nine goals.
“But at Atletico he has not been playing and he knows he is a good player and wants the chance to show it. He is happy to move to Bolton and play in the Premier League, he knows Bolton and has seen them on the television.
“Ivan Campo is there and doing well and he has spoken to him about the move.”
