Hayward hands Wolves over to son

Jack Hayward today passed control of Wolves to his son, Rick, after 13 years in charge of the West Midlands club.

Hayward, 80, has retired as chairman and director of the club.

He relinquishes the reins with the club, one of the founder members of the Football League, back in England’s top flight after 19 years’ exile.

His investment has amounted to more than £60m (€85.6m) and he can be credited with transforming Molineux as well as the team’s fortunes.

Hayward, a Bahamas resident, said at the start of the season that he would give the club away for nothing if a new owner could provide a further cash boost and had Wolves’ best interests at heart.
