Pearce ready to commit to City
Manchester City coach Stuart Pearce is ready to put his management ambitions to one side and commit his short-term future to the club.
Pearce, who skippered the Blues to the Nationwide League title two seasons ago, has been part of Kevin Keeganâs coaching team since he ended his playing days 18 months ago.
He is currently on a six-month contract which allows his to talk with interested parties should any managerial vacancy occur.
The hard-man former England defender was touted as a potential successor to Glenn Roeder at West Ham before Alan Pardew took over at Upton Park and Pearce has made no secret of his desire to go back into management again after an ill-fated spell as player-boss of Nottingham Forest.
However, he is due to have talks with Keegan over his future over the next few weeks and said he is in no rush to leave the Premiership club.
âI am very happy working for Manchester City,â Pearce told the clubâs website, www.mcfc.co.uk
âI like everyone connected with the club and I am happy with what I am doing. I donât come in every day and think âwhen am I going to be leavingâ.
âThings change very quickly in football and I do have aspirations to work in management.
âHowever, I am here as a coach and as long as the manager and the board are happy with what I am doing then so am I."
