Weaver faces year-long injury lay-off

Kevin Keegan is set to lose Nicky Weaver to injury for a year and has told his chairman he needs to sign fresh goalkeeping cover for David Seaman.

Keegan has confirmed Weaver faces surgery because of the recurrence of a long-term knee injury, leaving the Manchester City boss in a rush to complete either a permanent or loan signing once the January transfer window opens.
