O'Neill's proud of battling Hoops

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill was pleased to have secured the point which kept his side in contention for Champions League qualification after a 0-0 draw at home to Bayern Munich.

The result means the Hoops have to go to Lyon for their final group match needing a draw to progress as all four teams are separated by just a point.

And for O’Neill, that was all he could have hoped for before the visit of the Germans.

“I think you saw at the end of the game how Bayern celebrated – they were delighted to get something out of this game,” he said.

“I’m not disappointed. I thought we did terrifically well. I thought we were magnificent.

“I think the whole football club can be proud of the players tonight.

“At the end of it all we have put everything into the game. It did not flow as it did against Lyon and Anderlecht but I thought we were the better side in the first half.

“We didn’t carve out enough clear-cut chances in the game but other than that we can be pleased,” he said.
