Shelbourne take the eircom title

Shelbourne 2 Cork City 0

Goals from Jason Byrne and Jamie Harris saw Shelbourne crowned eircom League champions as Bohs lost in Drogheda.

Cork started well with Ryan Casey shooting against the post before Shels took command to go in at half-time good value for their 1-0 lead.

Shels’ first came on 26 minutes when Derek Coughlan's poor header fell to Byrne who volleyed his 19th goal of the season.

Harris then sealed the win with a super goal five minutes into the second half when finishing off a move involving Ollie Cahill and Dave Rogers.

Drogheda United 2 Bohemians 0

Drogheda secured their Premier Division status to end Bohs’ title hopes with this rousing win.

But for the brilliance of Shay Kelly, who made super saves from Andy Myler and Declan O'Brien, Bohs would have gone in behind at half time.

O'Brien gave Drogheda the lead with a super strike on 55 minutes.

Gary Cronin then forced the ball home from close range for the killer second goal five minuets later.

Longford Town 0 Waterford United 1

Waterford jumped three places to fourth in the table with this long awaited win over bogey side Longford.

The only goal of the game came on 42 minutes when Ger McLoughlin and Neale Fenn combined to set up Vinny Sullivan to score.

Prior to that, Town had the best chance of the first half when Sean Francis turned well from Alan Kirby's corner only to see Paul Leahy clear off the line.

St. Patrick's Athletic 0 UCD 0

UCD had their chances against ten-man St Pat's but couldn't get the win they needed to ease their relegation worries.

They do go a point ahead of bottom side Derry, but the Candystripes have a game in hand.

St Pat's left-back Karim El Khebyr was sent off on 16 minutes for the second time in a month for a bad challenge on Robert McAuley.

UCD created the better chances with Gavin Whelan heading wide while Robbie Martin also wasted a good opening two minutes from time.
