Late Grant goal denies Derry win
Derry City 1 Shamrock Rovers 1
Tony Grant scored a late equalise to prevent relegation-threatened Derry coming off the bottom of the Premier Divison table.
Paddy McLaughlin and Ciaran Martyn made a mess of a clearance and susbtitute Grant sneaked in to squeeze the ball under Alan Gough on 87 minutes.
Gareth McGlynn had given Derry the lead on 57 minutes.
Played in by Gary Beckett, winger McGlynn ran clear to lift the ball over Rovers’ reserve keeper Shane Davoran who had replaced the injured Tony O’Dowd at half time.
Derry remain bottom, level on points with UCD but with a worse goal difference.
