Pleat in peace bid

David Pleat has tried to diffuse his war of words with Glenn Hoddle by clarifying his apparent criticisms of the former Tottenham manager.

Director of football Pleat – who is in temporary charge of the team while the Spurs board look for a successor to Hoddle who was sacked last month – gave a newspaper interview last week in which he appeared to criticise Hoddle’s management style.
