Bayern foiled by late equaliser

Lyon substitute Peguy Luyindula netted a dramatic late equaliser to prevent Bayern Munich from claiming all three points at the Stade Gerland.

The visitors led from the 25th-minute when Roy Makaay netted following good work from Roque Santa Cruz and Michael Ballack.

But, after long spells of pressure which rarely resulted in Bayern goalkeeper Oliver Kahn being tested, two Lyon replacements combined to conjure up an equaliser with just two minutes remaining.

Florent Malouda crossed from the left and Luyindula stormed in at the far post to head down and into the net.

The hosts still had chances to win it with the best falling to former Bayern hero Giovane Elber but his close range effort was kept out by German international Kahn.
