Takeover takes Valakari by surprise

Derby midfielder Simo Valakari has revealed how news of the club’s takeover has taken the Rams’ first-team squad utterly by surprise.

The club have been sold to a consortium of businessmen led by barrister John Sleightholme who has put together a £15million refinancing package and bought the club from parent company Derby County Limited which went into receivership earlier today.
