Lavine inspires Longford to win over UCD
Longford Town 2 UCD 1
Shane Barrett hit a cracking winner as Longford got into the groove ahead of next Sunday's FAI Cup final.
Eric Lavine deserved much of the credit for working the opening for the crucial goal on 84 minutes.
The Bajan played in Barrett who cut across a defender to blast a left-footer to the roof of the net.
Barrett was central to Town's lead goal on 20 minutes when he crossed to the back post for Philip Keogh to head home.
UCD made a match of it into the second half and levelled on 71 minutes when substitute Patrick McWalter drilled a shot to the bottom corner despite keeper Stephen O'Brien getting a hand to the ball.
Town skipper Barry Ferguson deprived UCD of an 89th minute equaliser when clearing off the line from Alan McNally.
