A further EGM of the FAI is set for November 1 following the decision of the EGM at City West to vote against one of the proposals as presented at today’s meeting.

Following lengthy debate about the format of the resolutions which included rule changes relating to the Genesis-recommended governance structures, the meeting voted against one resolution in its present format.

The meeting also agreed that a full council meeting would be required to debate a reframing of the resolution prior to another EGM.

CEO Fran Rooney said: "The mood of the meeting was clearly still very much in favour of change and the new EGM would provide an opportunity to re-present the resolution in November”.

"I know that people still want change and I am confident that the members will want to embrace that change in six weeks time," Mr Rooney added.

A second proposal was accepted and a rule change in relation to underage players was also passed.

The new CEO’s contract was today agreed and signed prior to the meeting.
