Bart-Williams is Royle recruit

Ipswich manager Joe Royle has bolstered his midfield with the signing of Charlton midfielder Chris Bart-Williams on a one-month loan deal.

The 29-year-old has struggled to make an impression at The Valley and only made seven Barclaycard Premiership starts for the Addicks last season.

With Tommy Miller struggling with a knee injury ahead of the weekend clash against West Brom, Royle has moved to give himself more options.

He told his club’s official website, www.itfc.co.uk: “Chris is a big, strong midfielder and the type of player we need at the moment.

“We had a look at him in the Charlton reserves to make sure he was fit and he looked good. He will be joining us on a month’s loan, initially.”
