Liverpool footballer El Hadji-Diouf has pleaded guilty to assault under provocation by spitting on a Celtic fan during a Uefa Cup match.

Liverpool footballer El Hadji-Diouf has pleaded guilty to assault under provocation by spitting on a Celtic fan during a Uefa Cup match.

Appearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court, the 22-year-old Senegalese striker agreed he spat on the supporter during the quarter-final tie earlier this year.

Dubbed the Battle of Britain, the match between Liverpool and Celtic took place at Celtic Park, Glasgow, on March 13.
