Waterford United 1 Shelbourne 2

Shels moved back to the top of the table after two early goals proved enough to beat Waterford at the RSC.

Shels blitzed Blues from the off and were 2-0 up inside 12 minutes.

Ollie Cahill outpaced Ger McLoughlin onto Jason Byrne's through ball to blast home the opener on nine minutes.

Byrne then latched onto Steve Williams' long clearance to fire in a shot that Dan Connor got a touch to but couldn't keep out as the ball spun back into the net.

Blues got a goal back to make a match of it on 47 minutes when Kevin O'Brien shot home Kevin Water's corner from close range, but Shels held out for a vital win.
