Argentina have named 19 foreign-based players in their squad for the first two matches in their South American qualifying round for the 2006 World Cup.

Argentina have named 19 foreign-based players in their squad for the first two matches in their South American qualifying round for the 2006 World Cup.

Coach Marcelo Bielsa included 10 players from the squad that was knocked out in the first round of last year’s World Cup in Japan and Korea, including the Chelsea’s Juan Sebastian Veron and Hernan Crespo, also set to join the London club.

The squad also includes such talented young players as Javier Saviola and Andres D’Alessandro and next week Bielsa will add home-based players to the list.

Argentina play Chile on September 6th and Venezuela three days later.

The squad: P Cavallero (Celta Vigo), L Franco (Mallorca); F Quiroga (Sporting Lisbon), G Heinze (Paris Saint Germain), R Ayala (Valencia), D Placente (Bayer Leverkusen), W Samuel (Roma); C Gonzalez (Valencia), D Diaz (Cruz Azul), J Zanetti (Inter Milan), J Veron (Chelsea), M Almeyda (Inter Milan), E Cambiasso (Real Madrid), P Aimar (Valencia), A D’Alessandro (Wolfsburg); C Delgado (Cruz Azul), C Lopez (Lazio), J Saviola (Barcelona), H Crespo (Inter Milan).
