Lomas out until Christmas

West Ham midfielder Steve Lomas is out until Christmas after an ankle operation.

Glenn Roeder said: "It is a big concern. He had an operation at the end of last season and we hoped it would cure the problem. It hasn't.

"He will now require another which will take him out until December time. It's a big blow. If you were cornered and faced a fight to get out you would want Steve on your shoulder."
