Roeder happy with forward line
Glenn Roeder has rubbished reports linking West Ham with a loan move for Chelsea strikers Mikael Forssell and Carlton Cole.
Forssell and Cole could be shunted down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge by the arrival of Adrian Mutu, with Roman Abramovich’s spending spree unlikely to end there.
But Roeder insists he is happy with current Upton Park strike trio Jermain Defoe, Neil Mellor and Irish international David Connolly.
He told the official club website: “Just at this particular moment in time, the front part of the team, with Defoe, Connolly and Mellor, is probably the strongest part of the team.
“I never comment on other clubs’ players and I haven’t got a clue where that speculation has come from. Unless I am saying it, it isn’t happening.”
