Kissane brace sees UCD retain WFAI Cup
UCD have retained the Women's Football Association of Ireland Cup after beating Lifford 2-0 in the final at Richmond Park today.
Underdogs Lifford had the better of the first half, with Irish youth player Selina Moylan taking a star role, but they were unable to make a breakthrough against the Students.
UCD opened the scoring just two minutes after half-time, as striker Carmel Kissane fired home.
Kissane, a star in several sports and a current Irish international basketball player, grabbed a second on 66 minutes.
She linked up with her captain, Silvia Gee, before shooting the ball home off the far post.
UCD will now represent Ireland in a Europewide competition in Norway later this month.
