Striker Ashley Ward has signed a two-year contract with Sheffield United after being released from his contract with Bradford.

Blades boss Neil Warnock was delighted to have secured Ward’s signature and the much-travelled striker will now come into contention for United’s first game of the season against Gillingham on Saturday.

Warnock told the club’s official website, www.sufc.co.uk: “Ashley is a great leader of the frontline and I’m looking forward to working with him, as are the lads.

“This move is all about football, not money, and it is a fresh start for him.”
