Birmingham chairman David Gold has told Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers to lower his wage demands if he wants the chance of first-team football at St Andrews.

Gold revealed the midlands club “have an interest” in Jeffers but will not pursue it unless the former Everton forward agrees to more modest terms. The player is thought to be on around £35,000 per week (€49,500) at Highbury.
