Viduka's Leeds future plunged into doubt

Mark Viduka’s Leeds future is in doubt again after the Australian striker held weekend talks with Peter Reid.

Reports today suggested the Australian had told Leeds he wanted to leave the club.

But Leeds, who have always insisted Viduka is not for sale, stress that the Australian has not handed in an official transfer request.

The 27-year-old was linked with AC Milan and Tottenham among others at the end of last season.

But Viduka responded at the time by insisting that he did not want to leave. He said: “As I’ve said before, I’m happy here.

“If Leeds want to sell me, then that’s out of my hands to some degree, but I’m not looking to leave.”

And after a fresh wave of transfer speculation chairman Professor John McKenzie said last month:

“We do not want to sell Mark Viduka. I spoke with Mark... and he is happy to stay at Leeds.”
