McCann makes perfect Villa debut

Gavin McCann marked his Aston Villa debut with a stunning goal as his new team cruised to a 4-0 win against Swedish side Umea.

The £2.25m (€3.1m) arrival from Sunderland capped his first outing with a 20-yard strike in first-half injury time.

Darius Vassell had opened the scoring in the 13th minute and Lee Hendrie doubled the lead seven minutes later.

Thomas Hitzlsperger added a third in the 27th minute before McCann completed the scoring for David O'Leary's men.
