Byrne brace puts Shels through

Cork had no answer to Jason Byrne who scored twice as Shels won the match of the round at Turner's Cross.

Byrne had the Dubliners in front as early as the fourth minute when Michael Devine could only parry Ger McCarthy's shot and Byrne tapped home.

Shels remained the better side and deservedly hit a second goal on 72 minutes to seal their passage.

Byrne did it all himself this time when beating the offside trap to run clear and shoot past Devine.
