Brilliantly marshalled by player/boss Dave Hill, First Division Cobh earned a replay back at St. Colman's Park next Wednesday after this gallant rearguard action at the Brandywell.

Having survived an early scare when Kieran O'Reilly shot straight at Alan Gough, Derry owned the ball throughout the first half.

Gary Beckett forced a good stop from Phil Harrington while Gareth McGlynn and Liam Coyle had efforts that were over the bar.

It was one-way traffic throughout the second half as well with Coyle again missing two further chances while Ciaran Martyn also spurned three openings when one-on-one with Harrington as Ramblers held out.
