Sensi: Roma will meet Serie A deadline
Roma supremo Franco Sensi insists he is confident the club will meet the deadline for inclusion in Serie A next season.
The Italian giants remain the only top-flight side not to have been incorporated into next season‘s competition following their failure to show their accounts were in order in this week‘s meeting of the Italian League.
The club will have to clear their debts – which are reported at €54m – by next week.
“Roma will be included in the competition on July 29,” club president Sensi told the Italian press.
It is not the current Roma squad, but former players who are stopping the team from being given the go-ahead to take their place in the Italian top-flight.
Gabriel Batistuta, Josep Guardiola, Marcos Assuncao, Ivan Tomic and Antonio Zago are all owed bonuses by Roma.
