Flynn keen to attract Murphy
Swansea have taken Manchester City goalkeeper Brian Murphy on a week’s trial.
The Ireland U20 international turned down Kevin Keegan’s offer of a new contract at Manchester City, where he would have been behind David Seaman, Nicky Weaver and Carlo Nash in the pecking order.
Murphy will spend a week training at the Vetch and manager Brian Flynn hopes to persuade the 20-year-old to move to South Wales on a permanent basis.
“I already knew he was a talented goalkeeper, having seen a lot of him in academy football at City,” Flynn told the Western Mail.
“Brian has a number of options. There are other clubs interested in him, which is no surprise, but I am hopeful we can persuade him to sign for Swansea City.”
