Gunners gunner get me, says Lens striker
Lens striker Daniel Moreira has claimed Arsenal are trying to sign him, but any transfer hinges on whether Arsene Wenger can off-load one of his forwards.
Moreira revealed that his agent Stephane Canard would be meeting with Wenger for early talks about a possible move to Highbury.
Moreira has admitted he would like to link up with fellow French internationals Thierry Henry, Sylvain Wiltord and Patrick Vieira, the 25-year-old declared he has no intention of joining Wenger’s long list of strikers.
As well as Henry and Wiltord, Wenger has Nigerian international Kanu and prolific England Under-21 star Francis Jeffers both vying for a starting berth.
The club are also in talks with veteran Dennis Bergkamp over a new deal, while youngsters Jeremie Aliadiere and Jermaine Pennant can also play up front.
Moreira, who scored 13 goals for Lens last season, told www.eurosport.com: “Wenger got in touch with my agent last week and they are going to have lunch together.
“I know that Wenger likes me a lot and I think I could end up at Arsenal.
“The problem is that Wenger has too many strikers right now, he needs to sell one of them.”
