Longford and Drogheda in dire draw

The sides had to settle for a point from a desperately disappointing scoreless draw at Flancare Park - Longford's fourth from six home games in the league.

Drogheda ran the first half against a sluggish Town but had nothing to show for their efforts.

Town defender Brian McGovern deflecting a Pat Scully cross onto his own crossbar on 13 minutes - the closest Drogheda came to breaking the deadlock.

Town were only marginally better on the resumption and Sean Francis brought a superb diving save from Gary Rogers with a diving header on 52 minutes.

The fact that that was Town's only effort on target on the night just about summed up a dreadful spectacle of a game.
