McAllister set for Livi move

Former Aberdeen defender Jamie McAllister will complete his move to Livingston at the end of the week.

The left-back is expected to put pen to paper on a one-year deal on Friday and Livi will have the option of keeping him for a further year if he impresses at the Almondvale club.

McAllister – who spent four years at Pittodrie – is set to become the club’s first signing of the summer.

He will meet up with his new team-mates when they report back for pre-season training next week to be put through their paces for the first time by new head coach Maximo Marcio.

Chairman Dominic Keane confirmed: “Jamie should be a Livingston player by the end of the week.

“The players report for pre-season training next week and, if everything goes according to plan, he will be joining them.

“Everything seems to be going okay and Jamie is happy and we are happy. The players are all looking forward to coming back and starting work with the new manager.

“We have a good squad in place for the new season and we’re just looking forward to that.”

Keane added that McAllister is unlikely to be the only new arrival at the City Stadium before the new campaign gets underway.

Several players left the club towards the end of last season and Livi are keen to freshen up the squad and add some new faces over the coming weeks.

They have already applied for a work permit to bring Jamaican international Theodore Whitmore to Scotland and Keane revealed that a couple more players have also caught the eye of the club’s new-look management team.

He added: “We have applied for a work permit for him so if we get that, and we think that will happen, then we will be holding talks with him.

“There are one or two other players who we are interested in but, so far, nothing has happened with them yet.”

Keane revealed that he is still in negotiations with Deportivo la Coruna striker Carlos Garcia.

Garcia is a friend and team-mate of Celtic striker David Fernandez, who began his career in Scotland with Livingston before making the move to Parkhead.

Garcia is keen to play the final game remaining for Deportivo’s reserves before taking negotiations with Livi to the next stage but Keane is hopful of some progress being made in the next 10 days.
