Stam 'must see out contract'

Lazio defender Jaap Stam must see out his contract at the Serie A club, the Roman outfit’s president Ugo Longo said yesterday.

Longo, speaking on Radio Radio, rejected suggestions that the former PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United man was entitled to move on because he had not received all his pay from the club which has been in financial turmoil.

“Stam is a Lazio player,” said Longo of the Dutch veteran. “Because for him to go it would require the club to be in agreement and at the moment that desire is not there.

“Stam is linked with us for another two years, he has been paid regularly.”
