The future of England midfielder Lee Bowyer remained shrouded in doubt today as a battle for his signature brewed.

It was claimed the 26-year-old had all but clinched a lucrative move to Newcastle earlier this week, but his advisors today insisted Bowyer was continuing to talk to a number of unspecified potential employers.
