FA changes suspension rules to aid England

The Football Association have scrapped their opposition to players serving domestic suspensions representing England in friendlies.

Sven-Goran Eriksson personally asked The FA to revoke the ban, which prevented players turning out for England if they were serving a suspension with their club for violent conduct.

An FA spokesman told their official website, www.thefa.com: “At the request of Sven-Goran Eriksson, the FA’s International Committee has taken a decision to revoke the ruling which prevents players who are suspended domestically from representing England in friendly fixtures.

“Therefore, any England players currently suspended domestically, will be available for the national teams with immediate effect.”
