Houllier has confidence in cocky Thompson

Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier applauded his assistant Phil Thompson’s motivational masterstroke which revived the Reds’ Champions League ambitions.

After their 4-0 defeat at Manchester United, Thompson insisted the men from Anfield would win their final six games of the season and qualify for Europe’s top club competition.
