Birmingham manager Steve Bruce will check on the fitness of midfielder Robbie Savage and defender Kenny Cunningham ahead of tomorrow’s Barclaycard Premiership home meeting with Middlesbrough.

Savage is troubled by an ankle problem and was heavily strapped for the Easter Monday triumph over Southampton – Blues’ sixth win in eight games.

Cunningham has a sore groin but, like Savage, went through the pain barrier to play two games in 48 hours last weekend.

Darren Carter, Piotr Swierczewski, Ferdinand Coly and Michael Johnson are added to the squad with City needing one point to guarantee survival.

Provisional squad: Bennett, Kenna, Cunningham, Upson, Clapham, D Johnson, Savage, Clemence, Hughes, Dugarry, Horsfield, Marriott, John, Lazaridis, Devlin, Purse, Carter, Swierczewski, Coly, M Johnson.
