Grant Brebner, Mathias Jack, Tom McManus, Ian Murray, Derek Riordan, Derek Townsley and Yannick Zambernardi were all named in a newspaper report.

Now Easter Road defender Murray has apologised for the alleged incidents which took place.

He said in a club statement: “While the players deny much of what was claimed in the article, the players accept that the adverse publicity has caused embarrassment and offence to supporters, the club and our families, and apologise unreservedly.”

A club statement read: “The club have concluded their investigations into allegations made against certain players in a Sunday newspaper.

“The club have imposed fines on all the players named in the article for breaches of the club’s code of conduct. The fines are being donated to a children’s charity.”
