Byrne brace suits Shels

Jason Byrne hit a brace as Shels cruised to an easy win over Premier Division new boys Waterford.

David Crawley put Reds in front from an 18th minute penalty before Stephen Geoghegan punished a goalkeeping blunder to add the second on 32 minutes.

Byrne stabbed home his first from a Thomas Morgan free kick a minute before the break.

Blues made a fight of it in the second half, but Byrne added his second 15 minutes from time from Scott Oakes' cross.
