West Ham are prepared to battle for Barclaycard Premiership survival without the temperamental genius of Italian star Paolo di Canio.

Despite a battling 1-1 draw at Southampton’s St Mary’s stadium on Saturday, Hammers slid deeper into relegation trouble because fellow strugglers Bolton beat Manchester City while Leeds hit Charlton for six.
