Keane to miss Euro qualifiers

Robbie Keane will miss out on Ireland's two Euro 2004 qualifiers due to the death overnight of his father.

Keane came through last night's Spurs 1-0 Premiership defeat to Bolton unscathed, but will miss the games against against Georgia in Tbilisi on Saturday and Albania on Wednesday.

The Irish squad is due to train in Dublin today and tomorrow before flying out to Tbilisi on Thursday.

Rotherham striker Alan Lee and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Alan Quinn were both drafted into the squad yesterday following the withdrawal of Jason McAteer, Gary Kelly, Clinton Morrison and Mark Kennedy.

Steve Finnan and John O'Shea have joined up with the squad, but they are nursing injuries and may not be fit enough to play.

Finnan will have an MRI scan on a damaged rib today, while O'Shea is recovering from a hamstring strain picked up in Manchester United's game against Fulham on Saturday.
